Mar-Mes cyclepath – Venice

Construction of the Mar-Mes Cyclepath in Venice

Place
Marghera (VE), Italy

Period
2021 - 2022

Client
Comune di Venezia

Amount
€ 2.000.000

The purpose of this bike trail is to connect two significant areas of the Venetian hinterland. The path links the garden city of Marghera and the key areas of interest in its industrial zone with the Vega Science and Technology Park, which is located on the edge of the cities of Mestre and Venice. The trail will also connect to the existing bikeway that leads into Venice.

This project is more than just a bike path running parallel to the current road system; it plays a crucial role in mending the existing bike routes and connecting the cities of Marghera, Venice, and Mestre.

Activities
  • Technical and financial feasibility design
  • Safety coordination during the design phase

The project, which extends from Via delle Macchine to Via Pacinotti, is designed to unify the existing cycling network throughout the Venetian hinterland.

In addition to preparatory work, the project’s main objective is to connect the garden city of Marghera to Venice by linking Via delle Macchine and Via Pacinotti.

The planned path runs alongside the existing train tracks. By doing so, the bike lanes seamlessly integrate with the city’s urban development, providing access to a wide variety of workplaces and other points of interest.
